Life is a permanent thing for us. Without it we are nothing. Yet life goes past us every fraction of every second in every minute of our lives. Photography has the power to pause those fragments of time. Of life. Of our lives. I have always been captivated by that moment.
Photography has been a part of my life ever since I learned that life wasn't about me, for me or controlled by me. In other words, I started my photographic journey as I left my teenage years some 20+ years ago. I started with 35mm, of course. I've shot 6x6 too and developed my own film and prints. The digital revolution makes everything easier and the camera I use now is a massive advance on the cameras I have used in the past, yet it is simply a tool. It still needs pointing and telling when and how to shoot.
The quality of the moment captured is often judged, and often criticised, but that moment trapped between the shutter blinds is a personal moment interpreted by one individual to whom it means a lot. Perhaps everything. The equipment used to capture the images may be a weakness or a benefit to the photographer. The technique perhaps weak or ill-practiced, but the intention behind an image can never be fairly criticised by others.
This website is here to show you my moments in time. Moments that mean something to me. Some images may represent important times or emotions to me. Others are simply included on their own merits but all serve a purpose.
Landscapes are the most accessible and least demanding of subjects, while National and International standard motorcycle championships are perhaps the polar opposite. I am fortunate enough to be able to photograph the former pretty much at my leisure, and to be part of a fantastic motorcycle community which gives me the access to be up close and personal with Motorsport events such as the UK's BSB, the international WSB and Moto GP championships.
